How to Remove the Win32/Zlob Trojan
- 1). Open an Internet browser. Navigate to the Bleeping Computer site and download SmitFraudFix (See Resource 1). Note the download folder.
- 2). Restart the computer. Press the F8 key when the Windows Splash Screen appears and then select "Safe Mode with Networking." Allow Windows to load into safe mode.
- 3). Navigate to the folder containing SmitFraudFix. Launch SmitFraudFix.
- 4). Follow the on-screen directions to run a full system scan. Allow the scan to complete.
- 5). Follow the on-screen directions to remove the Win32/Zlob trojan and other detected threats. Close SmitFraudFix and restart the computer.
- 1). Launch Windows Update from the start menu. Follow the on-screen directions to scan for, download and install necessary updates. This method updates the Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool and other parts of the Windows operating system.
- 2). Click the "Next" button when the Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool window appears. Select "Full Scan" and click the "Next" button.
- 3). Allow the scan to complete. The scan takes several minutes to hours depending on the size and number of drives.
- 4). Follow the on-screen directions to remove the Win32/Zlob trojan and other detected malware. Close the Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool.
- 1). Launch Norton Antivirus. If you do not have Norton Antivirus it is available from the Symantec website (See Resource 2).
- 2). Follow the on-screen directions to update the virus definitions with the Live Update program. The definitions allow the scanner to detect and remove the latest malware threats.
- 3). Follow the on-screen directions to conduct a full system scan. The scan takes several minutes to complete.
- 4). Allow the scan to finish. Follow the on-screen directions to remove Win32/Zlob and other detected malware. Close Norton Antivirus.
